Kitui County Chief Officer for Finance and Revenue Collection, CPA John Makau, on Thursday morning appeared on Musyi FM’s Morning Talk Show, where he outlined the county government’s plans to strengthen its revenue base under the visionary leadership of Governor Dr. Julius Makau Malombe.

Makau, a decorated accountant, said the county is working on innovative strategies to increase own-source revenue and enhance service delivery across all sectors. He praised Governor Malombe for his unwavering commitment to transforming every corner of Kitui County through prudent financial management and people-centered policies.

Despite delays in the disbursement of equitable share funds from the National Treasury, Makau noted that Kitui County has continued to pay its workers on time, unlike many other counties currently struggling with salary arrears. He credited this stability to Governor Malombe’s effective fiscal discipline and visionary leadership.

Speaking passionately about his professional journey, Makau, who hails from a humble background, expressed his dedication to public service and academic excellence. He revealed that he is currently pursuing a PhD at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) as part of his continuous effort to enhance his expertise in financial management and governance.

Makau reaffirmed the county government’s commitment to ensuring efficient revenue collection, transparency, and accountability in all financial operations, saying these are the cornerstones of sustainable development in Kitui County.
