Residents of Kiliko in Kwavonza Ward are set to benefit from improved water infrastructure following the official site handover for fencing works at Masimbani Earth Dam.

The exercise was presided over on Monday by Yatta Kwa Vonza Member of the Kitui County Assembly, Hon. Mark Ndingo, marking the commencement of the project aimed at safeguarding the dam and enhancing its sustainability.

Speaking during the event, Hon. Ndingo emphasized the importance of protecting water sources through proper infrastructure, noting that the fencing of Masimbani Earth Dam will help prevent encroachment, reduce contamination, and ensure long-term access to clean water for the surrounding communities.

The project is funded by the County Government of Kitui under the leadership of Governor Dr. Julius Malombe, as part of ongoing efforts to improve water access and strengthen climate resilience in the region.

Local residents welcomed the initiative, expressing optimism that the project will address persistent water challenges and support livelihoods, particularly in agriculture and livestock keeping.

Once completed, the fenced dam is expected to serve as a reliable and secure water source, boosting socio-economic development in Kiliko and neighboring areas.
