Residents of Yatta kwa Vonza ward have a reason to smile after MCA Hon. Mark Nding’o officially presided over the site handover for the construction of a sand dam at Kyandani kwa Musau King’oto, Maitu, Kawongo. The project marks a significant step toward addressing persistent water shortages in the area, which has long relied on seasonal rivers and unpredictable rainfall.
Speaking during the event held on Wednesday, Hon. Nding’o emphasized the importance of investing in sustainable water solutions to improve livelihoods. He noted that the sand dam will enhance water retention, support small-scale irrigation, and provide a reliable source of water for both domestic use and livestock, especially during dry seasons.
Local residents welcomed the initiative, expressing optimism that the project will transform their daily lives and reduce the burden of trekking long distances in search of water. Once completed, the sand dam is expected to boost food security and economic activities in Kyandani and its surrounding areas.
