Wiper Party leader Dr. Kalonzo Musyoka has declared he is ready to take a legal stand against the proposed sale of Safaricom shares, saying the move threatens the interests of ordinary Kenyans.
Speaking at Milimani Law Courts, Kalonzo said he is prepared to “stand firm and defend the people of Kenya” against the plan, which has sparked public debate in recent weeks.
While details of the proposed sale remain contested, critics argue that offloading government shares in the profitable telco could shortchange taxpayers and weaken the state’s strategic stake in a key national asset.
Kalonzo’s appearance at Milimani signals a looming court battle that could pit the opposition against the government over privatization plans.
The Wiper leader has positioned himself as a defender of public assets, insisting any disposal of Safaricom shares must be transparent and in the best interest of citizens.
The case is expected to test the legality and public participation around state divestiture from blue-chip companies.
