Residents of Ilika Village in Kyosini Ward, Yatta/Kwa Vonza, are set to benefit from improved road infrastructure following the official site handover for the construction of a slab along the Kyosini–Kaseve–Athi road.
The handover ceremony was presided over earlier today by Yatta/Kwa Vonza Member of County Assembly (MCA) Hon. Mark Ndingo, marking the commencement of works aimed at enhancing accessibility and easing transport challenges in the area.
Speaking during the exercise, Hon. Ndingo said the project forms part of his ongoing efforts to upgrade local infrastructure and improve connectivity within the ward. He noted that the construction of the slab will provide a reliable crossing point, especially during rainy seasons when movement has often been disrupted.
The MCA emphasized that better roads and drainage structures are key to boosting economic activities, enabling farmers to transport produce with ease and allowing residents to access schools, health facilities, and markets without difficulty.
Local residents welcomed the project, expressing optimism that it will address long-standing transport challenges along the Kyosini–Kaseve–Athi road. They called for timely completion of the works to ensure the community begins to enjoy the benefits as soon as possible.
Construction is expected to begin immediately following the handover, with contractors urged to maintain quality standards and complete the project within the stipulated timeline.
