Reliable sources have informed The County Diary that two politicians from Kitui County have been arrested and are currently in custody awaiting arraignment in court tomorrow.
According to the information reaching us, one of the suspects is a sitting Member of Parliament, while the other is a former Member of the Kitui County Assembly. The two are alleged to have been involved in obtaining money by false pretence from influential members of society.
Sources indicate that investigations into the matter are at an advanced stage, with detectives having recorded statements from several complainants. The exact amount of money involved and the circumstances under which it was allegedly obtained have not yet been officially disclosed.
Police and investigative agencies are yet to issue a formal statement on the arrests, and the suspects are expected to take plea once presented before court.
