On 20th Friday feb 2026 – Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe commissioned the Kaayo–Kwa Mulungu Sumpwell Water Project – a major boost to clean and reliable water supply for communities in Kitui West.*
The project comprises a sump well, a high-capacity pump powered by solar energy, storage tanks, distribution pipelines, water kiosks, and sanitation facilities, and is serving Kwa Mulungu, Wayani, and Kalindilo areas with a population of about 2,000 people, including schools and other institutions.
In addition, the county has also implemented Kithumula Secondary School Borehole and the Kalindilo Borehole, which is supplementing the Masinga water supply.
Governor Malombe’s administration has made progress on the Kwa Musyoka/Kwa Malonza earth dam desilting which is at 65% and done the Kalimbevo pipeline extension.
The county chief reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding access to clean water and improving the quality of life.
