Kitui South MP Commissions RTI Kitui Campus, Pledges Full Scholarships for First 50 Students

Kitui South Member of Parliament, Hon. Dr. Rachael Kaki Nyamai, CBS, on Monday hosted top management from the Kenya Railways Corporation led by Managing Director Mr. Philip J. Mainga, EBS, during the official commissioning of the Railway Training Institute (RTI) Kitui Campus. The event marked a major milestone in expanding access to technical and professional training opportunities for youth in Kitui South and the wider region.

Addressing guests and residents, Dr. Kaki Nyamai reaffirmed her commitment to youth empowerment through skills development and quality education. In a transformative pledge, the MP announced that the first 50 students admitted to the RTI Kitui Campus will have their tuition fees fully paid through the Kitui South NG-CDF bursary programme, ensuring that financial limitations do not lock out deserving learners from accessing the new institution.

Kenya Railways Corporation Managing Director Mr. Philip J. Mainga, EBS, lauded Dr. Kaki for her visionary leadership and the high-standard infrastructure already in place. He noted that the facilities meet institutional requirements and demonstrate strong collaboration between national agencies and constituency leadership. Mr. Mainga assured residents that Kenya Railways is committed to fast-tracking staffing, programme rollout, and full operationalisation of the campus to allow learning to commence promptly.

The RTI Kitui Campus becomes the fourth campus of the Railway Training Institute, alongside Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kisumu. Once operational, it will offer technical and professional courses in railway operations, transport, logistics, and engineering, positioning Kitui South as a growing hub for skills development, innovation, and youth employment.
