The Annual Diocesan Family Day of the Catholic Diocese of Kitui was on Saturday marked with great joy and devotion at St. John Paul II Institute Grounds, drawing hundreds of faithful from across the county. The event, presided over by Rt. Rev. Joseph Mwongela, underscored the importance of faith, unity, and community development in strengthening the spiritual and social fabric of the region.
Among the distinguished guests at the ceremony were Safaricom’s Head of Corporate Security, Nicholas Mulila, and Mwingi West Member of Parliament Hon. Their presence added a sense of national recognition to the event, reflecting the growing partnership between the Church and leaders in promoting social progress.
In his address, Bishop Mwongela encouraged the faithful to uphold the values of family and service, reminding them that the Church plays a pivotal role not only in spiritual nourishment but also in community empowerment. He lauded all stakeholders supporting diocesan pastoral initiatives, which have continued to uplift lives across Kitui through education, charity, and moral guidance.
Hon. Nguna, in his remarks, reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the Church in advancing development in Mwingi West and beyond. He highlighted ongoing projects in education and infrastructure as part of his broader agenda to improve livelihoods. Mr. Mulila, on his part, commended the Diocese for nurturing moral responsibility among the youth and pledged continued support toward programs that promote community safety and economic empowerment.
