Mwingi West Member of Parliament, Charles Nguna, has dismissed allegations that he recently contacted former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, stating that their last communication dates back to 2023.

Speaking on the Kitui Professionals Chat, an influential online forum bringing together key figures from across Kitui County, Nguna said he had personally reviewed his phone records and confirmed there had been no recent interaction between the two.

“I have perused through my phone. The last time I talked with Gachagua was in 2023 when he was still Deputy President. He came and lied to our innocent people,” Nguna stated.

The legislator further addressed Gachagua directly, urging him to accept political realities following his removal from office.

“Let me advise my older brother, he was impeached by 282 MPs. I couldn’t do anything to save him. It’s sad he lost his job, but he needs to move on and focus on 2027,” he added.

Nguna’s remarks come in response to claims by Gachagua that the MP had reached out to him ahead of his planned visit to Kitui County—allegations the Mwingi West MP has firmly denied.

The exchange highlights growing political tensions in the region, as leaders position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Kitui emerging as a key battleground for influence among both ruling and opposition figures.
