A political rally held by the United Opposition in Kisasi was briefly disrupted after Kitui Rural MP Hon. David Mwalika expressed frustration over the crowd’s reaction during the event.
The incident occurred when Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka introduced Yatta Kwa Vonza MCA Hon. Mark Ndingo to the gathering. The crowd broke into loud cheers and chants in support of Ndingo, drawing a more enthusiastic response than that received by the area MP.
Eyewitnesses reported that Hon. Mwalika appeared visibly angered by the reception and questioned why the MCA was receiving overwhelming support from the crowd. His reaction momentarily caused murmurs among attendees, creating a tense atmosphere at the rally.
The situation, however, was quickly brought under control after Wiper leaders intervened and proceeded with the programme, continuing the introduction of various aspirants and leaders aligned to the opposition.
Despite the brief disruption, the rally went on as planned, with leaders addressing supporters on key political issues and unity within the opposition.
The incident has stirred debate among locals, with analysts suggesting it could reflect emerging political undercurrents in the region as competition for influence intensifies.
