The Independent Electoral and Boundances Commission (IEBC) has partnered with the County Government of Kitui, under the Ministry of Decentralized Units, to enhance voter registration and promote peaceful coexistence among residents. The partnership aims to mobilize eligible voters, share KIEMS kits movement schedules, and conduct civic education on the importance of participating in voting.
The collaboration will also focus on promoting peaceable coexistence between members of different communities and ethnic groups, ensuring a harmonious environment for the electoral process. IEBC and the County Government will work closely with other stakeholders, leaders, and the public to ensure that voter registration targets are met.
In a significant push to increase voter registration, IEBC has announced a 30-day Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) exercise, which will run until Tuesday, 28th April 2026. The public is encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to register or update their voter details.
“We urge all eligible Kitui residents to participate in the ECVR exercise and shape the future of our county,” said Ms Janet M from IEBC. Chief officer for Decentralized Units Kitonga Saleh urged the County Government Administratos to work together to create a peaceful and inclusive electoral environment for a successful voter registration increment.”
The partnership is expected to increase voter registration numbers and promote a culture of peace and coexistence in Kitui County. Residents are encouraged to support the initiative and make their voices heard in the upcoming elections.
