Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua has sparked fresh political debate after claiming that Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has failed to offer meaningful leadership and should consider exiting active politics. Speaking during a public event, Mutua argued that the region needs a new generation of bold, progressive leaders capable of delivering tangible development outcomes.
Mutua accused Kalonzo of recycling old promises and maintaining a political style that, according to him, has not translated into real benefits for the people. He said the community can no longer afford to rely on what he termed “politics of nostalgia,” urging residents to embrace leaders who prioritize economic empowerment, job creation, and modern governance approaches.
His remarks have drawn mixed reactions, with supporters calling them honest and long overdue, while Kalonzo’s allies dismissed the comments as desperate political propaganda. Political observers say Mutua’s statement signals an intensifying battle for influence in the Ukambani region as leaders position themselves ahead of the next political cycle.
