County FM journalist Brian Mutunga Mwangangi has been declared the winner of the Best sports Reporter of the Year award in the 4th Edition of the Jamhuri Awards, which concluded last night after a three-day voting process. The announcement was made shortly after midnight as Kenyans celebrated outstanding media professionals across various categories.
In the results announced by the Jamhuri Awards Secretariat, Mwangangi, who reports for County FM, garnered an impressive 1,771 votes, securing the top spot ahead of other national contenders. Alfayo Kombo followed with 540 votes, Kefa Nengi came third with 231 votes, Moureen Siango took fourth place with 63 votes, while Ojwang Mariam finished fifth with 17 votes. The competition attracted widespread participation from media enthusiasts across the country.
The voting exercise ran for 32 days, beginning on October 5 and closing on November 11, 2025, drawing thousands of Kenyans to support their favorite journalists. Mwangangi’s victory reflects the growing recognition of County FM’s commitment to delivering credible, in-depth political reporting and community-centered journalism in Kitui County and beyond.
