The County Government of Kitui has issued a stern warning to members of the public over illegal and fraudulent land transactions involving LR. No. 11802, a parcel of land owned by the county and held in trust for the residents.
In a public notice dated November 4, 2025, and signed by County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Mr. Fredrick Kimanga, the county clarified that the land in question is public property leased to B2 Yatta Cooperative Society Limited โ the successor of Kitui Yatta Kanyonyooni Cooperative Society Limited โ strictly for ranching purposes.
The county government expressed concern that certain individuals and entities have been unlawfully attempting to lease, transfer, or allocate portions of the land to unsuspecting members of the public. It warned residents to refrain from engaging in or making any payments to such parties, noting that such dealings are illegal and without the countyโs consent.

โThe County Government of Kitui advises the public not to engage or make payments to individuals or entities purporting to have the authority to transact on LR. No. 11802,โ the notice read in part.
Mr. Kimanga emphasized that any person or group entering into purchase or lease agreements on the said land does so at their own risk. The county government, he said, will not recognize or honor any contracts or agreements made by unauthorized persons regarding the land.
This move underscores the countyโs ongoing commitment to protect public assets and ensure land governance transparency, as it continues to safeguard community interests against fraudulent and unauthorized land dealings.
