Kitui County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Agriculture and Livestock, Dr. Stephen Mbaya Kimwele, has urged university students to believe in their potential, emphasizing that they are the leaders of tomorrow. Speaking during a mentorship session at South Eastern Kenya University, Dr. Kimwele delivered a keynote address themed “Experience to Legacy: Shaping the Leaders of Tomorrow.”

During the engagement, Dr. Kimwele described education as a transformative tool capable of shaping lives and empowering young people to contribute meaningfully to society. He encouraged students to remain focused and resilient despite challenges, reminding them that their background does not determine their future. He emphasized that with determination and self-belief, they can achieve their aspirations.

Drawing from his personal journey in academia, family life, and public service, the CECM challenged students to view obstacles as stepping stones to success. He highlighted the importance of persistence, discipline, and integrity, noting that these values are key in navigating both personal and professional growth.

Dr. Kimwele also called on learners to explore opportunities within the agricultural sector, describing it as a field rich with innovation, employment, and economic potential. He noted that agriculture remains a critical pillar in driving sustainable development and urged students to consider agriculture-related courses as viable career paths.

The mentorship session forms part of ongoing efforts to inspire and equip young people with the skills and mindset needed to shape a better future.
