Kalwilaa Primary School in Mwingi Central has officially been commissioned following a comprehensive refurbishment fully funded by the M-Pesa Foundation at a cost of Kshs. 24 Million.
The transformative project was undertaken courtesy of Mr. Nicholas Mulila, the Group Chief Risk Officer at Safaricom PLC, reflecting the company’s continued commitment to supporting education through its corporate social responsibility arm.
The commissioning ceremony was led by officials from the Safaricom Foundation, headed by Hon. Nicholas Mulila, who reaffirmed the foundation’s dedication to improving learning infrastructure across the country.
The refurbishment has significantly upgraded the school’s facilities including construction of 9 new classrooms, a state of the art Admin Block,a fully furnished Staff Room,Landscaping works, a new School fence/gate and a high yielding borehole serving both the school and the community.This initiative provides learners with a more conducive and modern learning environment which will enhance academic performance, improve safety standards, and uplift the overall morale of both pupils and teachers.
Speaking during the event, leaders emphasized the importance of partnerships between the private sector and local communities in advancing education development. Residents welcomed the initiative, terming it a major milestone for the education sector in Mwingi Central.
