Kangondi AIC and Kavaloni AIC women groups in Mutonguni Ward were all smiles today after receiving early Christmas gifts from the incoming Kitui Governor, Hon. Nicholas Mulila. The event turned into a joyful celebration as the women expressed their gratitude for being remembered during the festive season.
Speaking during the visit, Hon. Mulila representative emphasized his commitment to uplifting grassroots groups, especially women who play a central role in community development. He noted that empowering women strengthens families and builds stronger, more resilient communities across Kitui County.
The women groups openly shared their excitement, saying this was the first time, since independence, that a leader had visited them personally with Christmas gifts and a message of hope. They praised Hon. Mulila for his humility, generosity, and willingness to walk with ordinary residents at the village level.
Community elders and church leaders also lauded the gesture, terming it a sign of a compassionate leader who understands the needs of his people. They described Mulila’s visit as a blessing to the ward, adding that such engagements restore trust between leaders and the community.
