Political momentum is beginning to build in Kitui East Constituency as early alignments ahead of the 2027 General Election start to emerge. A section of residents in Mutito Kaliku Ward and Zombe Ward claim the two wards are already rallying behind aspiring parliamentary candidate Henry Nyamai.
According to locals and political observers, Nyamai has been steadily gaining influence across several wards in the constituency and is increasingly being mentioned as one of the strongest challengers to the incumbent Nimrod Mbai, the current Member of Parliament for Kitui East Constituency.
Nyamai, who was born and raised in Mutito, is reportedly focusing his early grassroots mobilization efforts in Mutito Kaliku Ward, Endau, Voo Kyamatu ,Sombe Mwitika Ward, and Voo Ward, areas where supporters believe he already enjoys growing popularity.
Political analysts say the real battleground could emerge in Chuluni Ward and Nzambani Ward, where both camps are expected to intensify campaigns as the 2027 race approaches.
Some residents in the pro-Nyamai camp accuse the incumbent MP Nimrod Mbai of neglecting development concerns in parts of the constituency, claims that his allies have previously dismissed, arguing that several projects are ongoing across the area.
With more than a year before the campaign season officially begins, political activity in Kitui East Constituency is already heating up, signaling what could become a highly competitive parliamentary contest in 2027.
