The alternative government rally at Kalundu in Kitui Central turned into a one-man show as Stephen Kilonzo alias Kitundumo electrified the crowd with his organized team.As top opposition leaders, including Kalonzo Musyoka, Gachagua and others took to the stage during the ongoing United Opposition tour in Kitui County, it was Kitundumo who captured the imagination of the people on the ground.
Kilonzo’s team painted Kalundu blue, with striking Wiper colours, speaking to his deep love for the Wiper party and his desire to selflessly serve the people of Kitui Central.*To his credit, the Wiper party leader Kalonzo publicly announced that Kitundumo was the sole organizer of today’s meeting on behalf of the host MP Makali Mulu who is away in the US.The teams from the other aspirants appeared to struggle, disorganized, scattered and out of touch with the people.
“Nobody knows what they stand for” one observer quipped.Kitundumo’s team came with energy, structure and passion for the people. The Wiper team led by Kalonzo took note.Political observers could not ignore the contrast, as rival camps of little known aspirants fumbled with coordination and failed to command attention.
“Without any doubt, Kitui Central seat deserves a person of Kitundumo’s stature and organization. This can’t be a trial and error moment”* said one observer, stating that Kitundumo is his own man unlike other aspirants who evidently are puppets of patronage.
As others struggle to fit into the race, Kitundumo is already way ahead of the pack.
