Residents of Kalima village in Yatta Kwa Vonza Ward have received a major development boost following the launch of the Last Mile Electrification Programme that will see 69 households connected to electricity.
The project was officially launched on Friday by Yatta Kwa Vonza MCA Hon. Mark Nding’o, who hosted Cabinet Secretary Hon. Opiyo Wandayi and Kitui Rural Member of Parliament Hon. Bon Mwalika at Kalima, Yatta Kwa Vonza.
Speaking during the event, leaders hailed the electrification project as a transformative step that will improve living standards, spur local economic activities, and enhance security in the area. Once completed, the project is expected to benefit households, small businesses, and social institutions within Kalima village.
Hon. Mark Nding’o reaffirmed his commitment to championing development projects that directly impact residents at the grassroots, noting that access to electricity is a key enabler of growth and service delivery.
Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi emphasized the government’s dedication to expanding electricity access across rural areas through the Last Mile Electrification Programme, saying the initiative is aimed at ensuring no Kenyan household is left behind in the country’s development agenda.
Kitui Rural MP Hon. Bon Mwalika welcomed the project, describing it as timely and long overdue, and assured residents of continued collaboration between national and local leaders to deliver more development projects in the constituency.
The Kalima electrification project marks a significant milestone for Yatta Kwa Vonza Ward as the community looks forward to improved livelihoods powered by reliable electricity access.
