The County Government of Kitui, through the Ministry of Tourism led by Deputy Governor H.E. Wambua Kanani, has successfully renovated Adamson’s Gate at Kamukunga in Tseikuru, Mwingi North Sub-County, in a major boost to the region’s tourism infrastructure.
The project was implemented during the 2024/2025 Financial Year under the leadership of Governor Dr. Julius Makau Malombe, as part of the county’s broader strategy to position Kitui as a key tourism destination.
Adamson’s Gate is strategically located and is set to serve as a key entry and linking point to Meru National Park and the Kora Game Reserve, opening up Mwingi North to increased tourist traffic and investment opportunities.
The renovation has improved the gate’s visibility, accessibility, and functionality, making it more welcoming to visitors while strengthening Kitui’s role within the larger eastern Kenya tourism circuit.
County officials noted that the upgraded gate will not only enhance conservation efforts but also stimulate local economic growth by creating opportunities for community-led tourism enterprises in Tseikuru and surrounding areas.
Residents have welcomed the project, citing its potential to attract tourists, create jobs, and promote the region’s rich natural and cultural heritage.
The initiative aligns with the Malombe administration’s commitment to unlocking Kitui’s tourism potential through infrastructure development, conservation partnerships, and community involvement.
With Adamson’s Gate now renovated, Mwingi North is poised to become a critical gateway connecting Kitui County to some of Kenya’s most iconic wildlife conservation areas.
