Yatta Kwa Vonza Ward Member of the Kitui County Assembly, Hon. Mark Nding’o, earlier this morning presided over the site handover ceremony for the installation of street lighting at Kanyonyoo Market. The project marks a significant step toward improving safety, business hours, and overall economic activity within the ward.
The initiative will see the installation of integrated solar-powered street lights, a move aimed at promoting sustainable and reliable energy solutions. Speaking during the exercise, Hon. Nding’o noted that the project aligns with his commitment to enhance infrastructure and create a conducive environment for traders and residents.
In addition to Kanyonyoo Market, the solar street lighting project will also be rolled out at Nzeveni Market and Musingi Market. These markets serve as key commercial hubs within Yatta Kwa Vonza Ward, and improved lighting is expected to boost evening trade and security.
Local traders and residents welcomed the project, saying the lights will help curb insecurity, extend trading hours, and improve movement at night. They expressed optimism that better lighting would attract more customers and stimulate local economic growth.
Hon. Nding’o reaffirmed his dedication to grassroots development, stating that such projects are crucial in transforming livelihoods and supporting small-scale businesses. He called on the community to take ownership of the installations and safeguard the infrastructure once completed.
