Ukambani Leaders Urged to Build National Alliance Around Kalonzo Musyoka

By TCD TEAM

The country is increasingly looking towards Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka as a potential presidential contender in the 2027 General Election, Mwingi Professionals Coordinator Mr. Campel Campell Munyambu has said.

Speaking on Saturday, Munyambu noted that discussions around the 2027 succession have gained momentum across the country, with many Kenyans assessing leaders they believe have the experience and national appeal to lead the country forward.

Munyambu called on political leaders from the Ukambani region to unite and work with other Kenyans in endorsing and supporting Kalonzo Musyokaโ€™s presidential bid, arguing that regional unity would strengthen the regionโ€™s bargaining power on the national stage.

He said Kalonzoโ€™s long career in public service, including his tenure as Vice President during the late President Mwai Kibakiโ€™s administration, positions him as a leader with a deep understanding of governance and national development.

According to Munyambu, the period when Kalonzo served as Vice President coincided with notable growth in infrastructure, education, and economic reforms, developments he attributed to collective leadership within the Kibaki government.

Speaking exclusively to TCD DIGITAL, Munyambu further argued that Kalonzo Musyoka has consistently demonstrated a conciliatory leadership style, which he said is critical for a country seeking unity amid political and ethnic diversity.

He also made reference to evolving regional and community alliances in Kenyan politics, noting that communities often form broader coalitions to enhance their political influence at the national level.

Munyambu emphasized that such alliances, in his view, should be based on shared national values, mutual respect, and a commitment to inclusive development rather than exclusion or division.

He urged leaders from Ukambani to engage in issue-based politics and avoid internal divisions, saying unity would enable the region to effectively articulate its development priorities within national discourse.

As the 2027 elections draw closer, political analysts note that conversations around potential presidential candidates are expected to intensify, with endorsements and alliances likely to continue shaping the countryโ€™s political landscape.
