The Gikuyu, Embu and Meru Association (GEMA) has officially ratified the inclusion of the Kamba community into its leadership following a National Delegates Convention held after a governing council meeting on December 18th of 2025

During the meeting, the GEMA Governing Council resolved to recognize the Kamba community as part of its “big house,” drawing parallels with the Kalenjin community, which comprises several sub-tribes that collectively form the Kalenjin nation. GEMA leaders emphasized that the move is aimed at strengthening unity, inclusivity, and collective leadership among communities with shared social and economic interests.

The leadership noted that the expanded structure will enhance cooperation and foster joint efforts for the benefit of the wider GEMA community and its partners. They further cautioned the public against branding GEMA as a tribal outfit, insisting that the association’s focus is on unity, development, and mutual coexistence rather than ethnic exclusion.

As part of the new leadership arrangement, former Kitui County Assembly Speaker Hon. George Ndoto was appointed Deputy Chairperson II, while Professor Muluvi was named the deputy Organising Secretary of the outfit.

GEMA leaders reiterated their commitment to working together across communities to promote national cohesion, development, and shared prosperity, stating that inclusivity remains central to the organization’s vision going forward.
