Kitui County Executive Committee Member for youth , ICT , sports ,Culture, Gender and Social Services, Ms. Phoebe Mutemi, on Friday led a compassionate early Christmas outreach at Waita Prison, bringing hope, encouragement, and essential supplies to inmates. The visit aimed at uplifting the spirits of the incarcerated as the festive season approaches.

During the event, Ms. Mutemi underscored the importance of hope, personal transformation, and the power of rehabilitation. She encouraged inmates to fully embrace the programs offered within the correctional facility to build better lives after release. As part of the support, the team donated essential items, with a special focus on providing sanitary pads to female inmates—demonstrating the Ministry’s commitment to meeting gender-specific needs and promoting dignity for all.

The outreach aligns with the Ministry’s ongoing agenda of promoting gender equality, youth empowerment, and social welfare across the county. Ms. Mutemi has recently led several empowerment initiatives, including training referees for the Governor’s Cup and advocating for expanded economic opportunities for women and youth. She was accompanied by Acting Chief Officer for Culture, Gender and Social Services Ms. Esther Mutemi, Deputy Directors Purity Mutisya and Tabitha Mweu, among other officers.
