Redemta Mary Matiti is a visionary, people-centered leader aspiring to serve as Woman Representative for Kitui County in the 2027 General Elections. A devoted mother, trained teacher, counsellor, and psychologist currently pursuing her PhD, she embodies a new era of leadership—innovative, accountable, and deeply rooted in community values. She envisions a future where women earn more, girls dream bigger, boys are restored to purpose, and communities thrive together.
Born and raised in Kitui County, Matiti understands firsthand the realities facing rural communities: youth unemployment, drug and substance abuse, gender inequality, limited economic opportunities, climate-related vulnerabilities, and the systemic barriers confronting marginalized groups.
Having benefited from scholarship support during her early education, she draws inspiration from her own journey—fueling her lifelong commitment to empowerment and service. Her story is one of resilience, purpose, and an unwavering dedication to delivering practical, people-centered solutions.
With a strong academic foundation in education and psychology, and extensive experience in community engagement, mobilization, advocacy, mentorship, entrepreneurship, and program development, Matiti has championed women’s empowerment, youth mentorship, and human rights awareness through grassroots initiatives. She has collaborated with respected development partners such as USAID, World Vision, the World Food Program (WFP), and UN Women, among others. Her leadership is anchored in accountability, innovation, and measurable impact—ensuring meaningful change at the household and community levels.
Running under the slogan #WakwaNiMaryMatiti, she pledges to champion open, transparent, and accountable leadership by strengthening public participation and enhancing stakeholder collaboration.
She is committed to forging strategic partnerships with National and County Governments, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Faith-Based Organizations (FBOs), and the private sector to mobilize resources and implement transformative programs that leave no one behind.
Key Priority Initiatives
If elected, Matiti will prioritize:
1.Women’s Economic Empowerment – Establish ward-based enterprise funds, expand access to funding, skills training, and market opportunities for women-led enterprises.
2.Girl-Child Mentorship and Leadership Development – Creating safe spaces, scholarship linkages, and mentorship networks to nurture confident future leaders.
3.Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) – Promoting inclusion, accessibility, and economic participation for persons with disabilities.
4.Boy-Child Restoration and Mental Wellness Support – Roll out mobile mental wellness outreach programs, develop sports talent pathways, and create rehabilitation mentorship circles to combat drug abuse, hopelessness, and social decline.
5.Holistic Community Transformation – Promote climate-smart livelihoods, invest in water resilience projects, and launch youth innovation hubs.
Guided by the values of equity, empowerment, and sustainable development, Matiti envisions a prosperous Kitui County where women, youth, and persons with disabilities thrive socially, economically, and politically.
