Safaricom Chief of Security, Mr. Nicholas Mulila, has called on leaders across Kitui County to embrace positive, people-centered leadership aimed at easing the challenges faced by residents, particularly due to insufficient rainfall in many parts of the county. He noted that the prolonged dry conditions continue to affect livelihoods, especially among vulnerable communities.

Speaking to journalists on Monday at the Pastoral Centre in Kitui town, Mulila emphasized the need for leaders to remain grounded in the realities facing ordinary citizens. He urged them to focus on practical and sustainable interventions that can help communities adapt and cope with the harsh climatic conditions.

Mulila stressed that unity among leaders is critical during such difficult times, noting that development can only be achieved when leaders put aside political differences and work together for the common good of the people.

On education matters, the Safaricom Chief of Security appealed to parents and guardians to ensure 100 per cent transition of learners to the next classes. He underscored the importance of education as a long-term solution to poverty and social challenges facing many families.

โ€œThe best gift you can give to your children is education,โ€ Mulila said, urging parents to prioritize schooling even amid economic hardships. He noted that investing in education equips children with skills and knowledge that empower them to shape a better future.

He further called on community leaders and stakeholders to support families struggling to keep children in school, emphasizing collective responsibility in safeguarding the education of the younger generation.

Addressing the youth, particularly those popularly referred to as Gen Z, Mulila advised them to exercise caution and responsibility during the festive season. He warned against risky behavior and encouraged young people to make positive choices that protect their lives and futures.

Mulila also cautioned residents in areas currently receiving rainfall to be vigilant, especially when crossing swollen rivers. He noted that such conditions pose serious risks and urged residents to prioritize safety at all times.

Parents and guardians were specifically urged to closely supervise children during the holiday period, noting that increased movement and celebrations often expose children to accidents if proper care is not taken.

Mulila concluded by wishing the people of Kitui a happy holiday season and a prosperous New Year, calling for peace, care, and responsibility as families celebrate. He expressed hope that the coming year would bring improved weather conditions and renewed opportunities for development across the county.
