Kitui County Governor’s Cup Kicks off

The Kitui County Governor’s Cup is kicking off in style, with teams from Mwingi North Villages showcasing their football skills. This initiative, led by Ms. Phoebe Mutemi,the County Minister for Culture, Gender, Youth, ICT, Sports and Social Services aims to engage Kitui youth during the long holiday and promote sports development in the county.

Teams from various villages, including Kyuso Town, Twimyio, Masyungwa, Kamula, Mulangoni, Kimela, Mitamisyi, Ndatani, Katumbi, Ngalange, Nzanzeni, Musavani, Tyaa, Nguuku, Katse, Muvukoni, Ngungani, Kanyengya, Gacigongo, Kamaindi, Kanthungu and many others, are participating in the tournament. The Governor’s Cup is not just about football; it’s about empowering youth, promoting unity, and providing opportunities for young people to showcase their talents.

The tournament is structured to progress from village to ward, sub-county, and county levels, with the finals scheduled for March 2026 at the Ithookwe Stadium. This is a fantastic opportunity for local teams to shine and for the county to come together and celebrate sports.
