The long-awaited construction of the Late Nzamba Kitonga Memorial Hospital in Mutitu, Kitui East Sub-County, is finally moving forward. The project site has been handed over to the contractor, marking a significant milestone in the hospital’s development.
This development follows President William Ruto’s pledge to support the project during his visit to Kitui County, emphasizing the National Government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare services in the region. The promise was further reinforced during a meeting between Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe and officials from the Ministry of Defence, led by Principal Secretary Dr. Patrick Mariru, who reviewed the project’s progress and implementation plans.
With the contractor now on board, construction is set to begin soon, with an estimated completion time of ten months. The 75-bed hospital will be a game-changer for Kitui East, expanding healthcare services, reducing pressure on existing facilities, and improving access to treatment for residents.
