Rachel Kaki Nyamai, the Member of Parliament for Kitui South Constituency in Kitui County, has called on women leaders across the country to prioritize the needs of mothers living in rural villages who continue to struggle to make ends meet.

Speaking during a public engagement, Dr. Nyamai urged leaders in positions of influence to focus on uplifting vulnerable women through empowerment initiatives and targeted support programs aimed at improving their livelihoods and overall wellbeing.

The legislator emphasized that rural mothers play a critical role in sustaining families and communities but often face significant social and economic challenges that require deliberate intervention from leaders and institutions.

Dr. Nyamai also appealed for stronger support systems for women who have experienced gender-based violence, stressing the importance of protection, counseling, and community-based assistance to help survivors rebuild their lives.

She noted that empowering women and addressing the challenges they face is key to building stronger families and promoting inclusive leadership in society.
