KITUI EAST – Voo/Kyamatu MCA Hon. Dr. Zak Syengo has emerged as one of the strong potential Wiper candidates for the Kitui East parliamentary seat in the upcoming 2027 general election.
Hon. Syengo, who currently serves as the Chairperson of the powerful Budget and Appropriations Committee in the Kitui County Assembly, has publicly expressed his ambitions for national leadership. He confidently stated that he is eyeing the position of Chairperson of the National Assembly Budget Committee come 2027.
The vocal MCA, also the only Member of the Kitui County Assembly with a PhD, is expected to mount a serious challenge against the incumbent MP Hon. Nimrod Mbai. According to political observers, Syengo’s academic credentials, legislative experience, and grassroots support place him as a formidable contender.
Also mentioned as a possible candidate is former Kenyan Ambassador to Turkey, Hon. Kiema Kilonzo, who remains a seasoned political figure in the region.
Sources close to Wiper Party leadership indicate that the party is keenly focused on reclaiming the Kitui East seat, a key constituency in the county. With increasing signs of early political maneuvering, the 2027 race is shaping up to be one of the most hotly contested in Kitui County.
