The Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) Commissioner Ben Muasya has faulted Kitui West Member of Parliament Edith Nyenze, accusing her of poor leadership and failure to effectively lobby for development in the constituency.
Speaking on Monday in an interview with TCD Digital, Muasya described the MP as incompetent, claiming her role has been reduced to accompanying local administrators during relief food distribution exercises instead of championing long-term development projects.
Muasya alleged that Nyenze often publicly criticises the national government while at the same time following state officials during visits to Kitui West to take credit for government-led initiatives.
He further argued that bursary allocations and the distribution of relief food are routine government functions and should not be used by an area MP to score political points.
According to the CRA commissioner, the Kitui West MP lacks the capacity to lobby within Parliament, adding that he once personally showed her the office of the Majority Leader in an attempt to guide her on how to pursue constituency interests.
“Kitui West deserves better representation than what the people are currently experiencing,” Muasya said, insisting that residents have not benefited from strong advocacy at the national level.
He went on to claim that Nyenze has never successfully lobbied for any development projects in Kitui West since assuming office.
Muasya maintained that all government projects currently underway or already completed in the constituency were a result of his own lobbying efforts and not those of the MP.
The remarks highlight growing political tensions in Kitui County, where leaders have increasingly been exchanging sharp criticism over development records and political alignments.
As the political debate continues, residents of Kitui West are now faced with competing narratives as pressure mounts on elected leaders to prioritise service delivery over political wrangles.
