Mwingi Central leaders led by CPA John Makau and Dr MBAYA kimwele have intensified political pressure against area Member of Parliament Gideon Mulyungi, with calls growing louder for his ouster in the 2027 General Election amid accusations of divisive politics and confrontational leadership.
Speaking during a burial ceremony in Mwingi, Kitui County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture and Livestock, Dr Stephen Mbaya Kimwele, urged political leaders to tone down hostile rhetoric and focus on service delivery for the people. Dr Mbaya cautioned that public insults, personal attacks and constant political confrontations undermine governance and derail development.
Without mincing words, Dr Mbaya challenged MP Mulyungi to desist from remarks perceived as disrespectful to Governor Dr Julius Malombe, urging him instead to embrace constructive engagement for the benefit of Mwingi Central residents.
โPolitical differences should be addressed through lawful, respectful and civil channels. Endless confrontations only erode public trust and slow down development,โ Dr Mbaya said.
He further called for unity among leaders, stressing that Kitui Countyโs progress depends on cooperation between national and county leadership. According to the CECM, leaders must respect institutions, promote peaceful coexistence and put the welfare of citizens ahead of political grandstanding.
Residents and local leaders attending the ceremony echoed Dr Mbayaโs sentiments, expressing frustration with persistent political wrangles. Many urged leaders to focus on addressing pressing challenges facing the constituency, including development, livelihoods and service delivery, instead of engaging in endless political battles.
The growing discontent signals a potentially fierce political contest in Mwingi Central ahead of 2027, as leaders rally residents around a message of unity, respect and development-driven leadership.
