Kitui West was gripped by charged political moments as Director of Coordination at State House, Hon. Boniface Musambi—popularly known as Nzeve Nzau—delivered a hard-hitting address that shifted the political mood and overshadowed opposition leaders present.

The atmosphere grew tense after Senator Enoch Kiio and Kitui Women Representative Dr. Irene Kasalu took turns criticizing the Kenya Kwanza administration, declaring that residents would not “kneel to President William Ruto to receive development.” Their remarks sparked murmurs among mourners, setting the stage for a political showdown.

However, when Musambi rose to speak, the tone changed dramatically. Speaking with confidence and authority, the State House official directly countered the opposition’s narrative, emphasizing practical engagement with government as the surest path to development. His remarks ignited loud and sustained “TUTAM!” chants from the crowd, a clear show of support that visibly tilted the momentum in his favour.

Observers noted that the spontaneous crowd reaction left opposition figures politically exposed, as Musambi appeared to command both the attention and approval of the gathered residents.

The political exchange unfolded during the burial ceremony of the late Nicholas Mutiso Ngimbwa, father to Hon. Ben Muasya of the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA), an event that drew leaders from across the political divide.

By the end of the ceremony, the message from Kitui West was clear: grassroots support and visible delivery matter more than political rhetoric. For many in attendance, Musambi’s performance reinforced the view that leadership is earned on the ground—not negotiated through noise.
