Kitui Ready to Celebrate Heroes: Governor Thanks President Ruto for Mashujaa Day Honor

Kitui County is in high spirits as preparations for this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations reach their peak. Governor Dr. Julius Malombe, together with Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs, Salim Mvurya, officially handed over the newly constructed Ithookwe Stadium to the National Celebrations Committee ahead of the October 20, 2025 event. The state-of-the-art facility is set to host thousands of guests and dignitaries from across the country.

Governor Malombe expressed his deep appreciation to President William Ruto for choosing Kitui as the host of this year’s national celebration. He noted that the event is not only a great honor but also a historic opportunity to showcase Kitui’s progress and hospitality. “The stadium is ready to host the national event, and we call on Kitui residents and Kenyans at large to turn up in large numbers to celebrate our heroes and heroines,” said Dr. Malombe.

On his part, CS Salim Mvurya commended the close collaboration between the national and county governments, noting that the contractor is finalizing minor touches to ensure the venue meets the highest standards. He affirmed that all logistical and security arrangements are in place, declaring that “it’s all-systems-go for the historic event.”

The 2025 Mashujaa Day celebration is expected to draw national attention to Kitui, boosting local tourism, business, and community pride. As the county readies itself to host the nation, residents are eager to welcome visitors and honor Kenya’s heroes and heroines in a colorful and memorable celebration.
