Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai Vows to Back UDA MCAs in 2027

Kitui East Member of Parliament Hon. Nimrod Mbai has signaled a major political realignment ahead of the 2027 General Election, announcing plans to support United Democratic Alliance (UDA)–aligned candidates for Member of County Assembly (MCA) positions in the constituency. The MP cited growing frustration with what he termed a lack of cooperation from some ward representatives elected on the Wiper Democratic Movement ticket.

Speaking during a local engagement, Mbai singled out Voo MCA Zack Syengo, Endau MCA Erastus Mbuno Jr., and Chuluni MCA Mathew Ngovi, accusing them of failing to work harmoniously with his office to advance development projects. According to the MP, disunity between the national and county leadership has slowed service delivery in Kitui East.

Mbai argued that effective development requires close coordination and shared priorities between the MP and ward leaders. He maintained that his focus is on tangible results for residents and insisted he will only work with leaders who align with his development agenda and political direction.

The remarks are expected to intensify political temperatures in Kitui East as parties begin early positioning for 2027. Observers say the MP’s declaration could reshape local alliances, with UDA likely to mount a strong push to capture MCA seats currently held by Wiper in the constituency.
