Kitui East parliamentary aspirant on the Wiper Patriotic Party, Militonic Mwendwa Kitute, has strongly dismissed allegations made by the area MP Hon. Nimrod Mbai linking Wiper Party leader H.E. Kalonzo Musyoka and former Kitui East MP Hon. Kiema Kilonzo to an alleged coal deal with Chinese nationals in Sombe and Mutitu.
In a hard-hitting statement, Kitute termed the claims as false and misleading, insisting that neither Kalonzo Musyoka nor Kiema Kilonzo has ever held meetings or engaged in coal business in Sombe, Mutitu, or anywhere else. He accused Mbai of deliberately spreading propaganda to mislead the public and taint the reputations of senior leaders for political gain.
Kitute further faulted the Kitui East MP for what he described as years of divisive politics, alleging that Mbai has fostered unnecessary tension between Lower and Upper Kitui East. He said such rhetoric has weakened unity among residents, fueled conflict, and distracted the region from meaningful development.
The Wiper aspirant also raised concern over what he termed as repeated violent and intimidating language allegedly used by Mbai, saying such utterances are unacceptable and unfit for leadership. Kitute argued that fear-mongering and false narratives are being used to manipulate voters and undermine fairness in electoral processes, vowing to expose such tactics.
Additionally, Kitute questioned Mbaiโs silence on the management of Kitui East Constituency Development Fund (CDF) resources. He said instead of addressing accountability and transparency on how public funds are utilized, the MP has resorted to political theatrics and distractions, denying residents clear answers on development.
Kitute urged the people of Kitui East to reject lies and politics of division, calling for leadership anchored on truth, unity, and respect for the electorate. He maintained that residents deserve leaders who focus on service delivery rather than propaganda as the 2027 political contest begins to take shape.
