A cloud of sorrow hung over Kasambuiya B Sub-location in Ikanga/Kyatune Ward as thousands of mourners gathered on 10th December 2025 to bid farewell to a mother and her three children who perished in a tragic road accident. The four lost their lives on 21st November 2025 at Ngoluni Market along the Wote Road, an incident that has left the entire community devastated.
Ikanga/Kyatune Ward MCA Hon. Cyrus Kisavi led the emotional ceremony, standing with the bereaved family and especially Musili Sammy, who painfully bid farewell to his beloved wife and three precious children. Leaders, clergy, relatives, and residents filled the homestead, offering prayers, comfort, and solidarity in what has been described as one of the most heartbreaking tragedies to hit the area in recent years.
Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Makau Malombe extended his support to the grieving family through County Executive Gladys Mami Kivoto, who delivered financial assistance, Makueni Governor Mutula Jnr cleared mortuary expenses on behalf of the County Government. This gesture was widely acknowledged as a significant relief to the family during their time of immense distress.
President William Ruto also conveyed his sympathy to the bereaved family, contributing over KSh 800,000 through Kitui South MP Hon. Dr. Racheal Kaki Nyamai. The legislator attended the solemn burial and delivered the President’s support, emphasizing the need for unity and compassion during such difficult moments.
In her remarks, Dr. Nyamai urged motorists to observe road safety and called for enhanced safety measures along major roads to prevent similar tragedies. She encouraged the community to continue standing with the family as they navigate the painful path of healing. Mourners echoed her sentiments, pledging ongoing support to the affected household as Kasambuiya B comes to terms with the loss.
