Mwingi Central politics has taken a dramatic turn after a strong wave of support emerged in favour of CPA John Makau Kimwele, a seasoned accountant and respected community figure, who is eyeing the parliamentary seat in 2027.

In a rare show of unity, several community leaders, opinion shapers, elders, youth, and clergy members gathered over the weekend and openly endorsed Kimwele’s bid, citing his integrity, professionalism, and unmatched development record in the private sector.

Speaking during a community event held at Nguni market, local leaders called for fresh and visionary leadership in Mwingi Central, describing CPA Kimwele as the “hope and voice of the silent majority.” The leaders accused the current MP, Hon. Gideon Mulyungi, of failing to adequately represent the constituency’s interests and development priorities.

“CPA Kimwele brings a breath of fresh air. He is not only development-minded, but also untainted by scandal. It’s time we give leadership to a person who can bring order, transparency, and transformation,” said one elder during the meeting.

Political observers note that Kimwele’s growing influence and expanding grassroots network could pose a serious challenge to Mulyungi’s hold on the seat, especially as cracks begin to emerge within the incumbent’s camp.

Kimwele, who has remained humble but consistent in his engagements, told residents he is ready to serve with honesty and accountability if given the mandate in 2027.

As the race gains momentum, all eyes are now on how Mulyungi will respond to this political onslaught, and whether he can mobilize enough support to counter the growing Kimwele wave.
