Leaders and members of the National Liberal Party (NLP) in Kitui Central have intensified grassroots economic empowerment efforts through a biashara support initiative targeting small-scale traders in Kitui Town. The team visited several busy trading areas including Quickmart Supermarket, Total Energies Junction Station, Naivas Supermarket, Kanda market, Kalundu Market, and the town bus park where they engaged traders and small business owners.
The initiative focused on empowering mama mboga, small retailers, and informal traders who form the backbone of the local economy. Through direct interaction and support, the NLP team emphasized the importance of strengthening grassroots businesses as a way of creating sustainable economic growth in the constituency.
The exercise was spearheaded by the party’s Director of Women Affairs, Magdalene Mutwii, who led the team in engaging women traders and encouraging them to continue expanding their businesses despite economic challenges. Mutwii underscored the role women play in driving local commerce and community development.
Speaking during the outreach, party members reaffirmed their commitment to working with residents and traders to promote business opportunities, financial empowerment, and inclusive growth under the banner of the National Liberal Party.
