Kitui Central MP hopeful and serving Kitui County Assembly Deputy Speaker Christopher Nzilu on Wednesday condoled with the family of the late Andrew Munyasya Kiswii before attending his burial on Thursday, where he extended support to the bereaved family.
Nzilu visited widow Kavutha Munyasya at Kabaa, Mwambuu village in Kyangwithya East, where he assessed her living conditions following the loss of her husband.
During the burial ceremony, the Deputy Speaker, accompanied by Kyangwithya East MCA Katumbi, presented iron sheets to the widow after establishing that her house had a leaking and poorly roofed structure that exposed the family to harsh weather conditions.
The leaders purchased the iron sheets to facilitate immediate roofing of the house and shield the family from ongoing rains.
Nzilu noted that leadership requires compassion and practical support to residents, especially during times of grief and hardship, adding that standing with the community remains a priority in service to the people.
The widow and neighbours expressed gratitude for the timely intervention, saying the assistance would restore dignity and comfort to the home.
The visit highlighted continued grassroots engagement by leaders across Kitui Central in addressing social and welfare needs of residents.
