Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe on Monday hosted a delegation from the Kenya Devolution Support Programme (KDSP) Phase II County Program Implementation Unit at his office. The team was led by Mr. Urbanus Mbindyo from the State Department for Devolution, who serves as an Independent Verification Analyst.
The purpose of the visit was to evaluate Kitui County’s readiness and capacity to participate in the KDSP Phase II grant. Mr. Mbindyo’s assessment focused on the county’s performance, institutional systems, and commitment to implementing projects that promote sustainability and enhance service delivery across the county.
Governor Malombe lauded the KDSP officials for their continued collaboration and support toward strengthening devolution at the county level. He reiterated his administration’s determination to build strong governance structures, ensure prudent use of public resources, and deliver impactful development programs that benefit the people of Kitui.
Dr. Malombe further assured the evaluation team that Kitui County remains committed to meeting all the KDSP Phase II requirements, emphasizing that such initiatives are instrumental in achieving inclusive growth and improving livelihoods. He said his government will continue prioritizing efficiency, accountability, and citizen-centered development.
Following the evaluation, Kitui County successfully passed the KDSP II assessment — a milestone that reaffirms the county’s growing capacity to manage development programs effectively and deliver quality services to its residents.
