Yatta Kwa Vonza MCA Mark Nding’o has congratulated all newly elected leaders following the recently concluded by-elections, even as he expressed deep concern over the violence and disorder that marred the polls. Speaking during a live talk show on Mwatu FM on Friday morning, Nding’o said the chaotic scenes witnessed across various polling stations painted a negative picture of the country’s democratic processes.

The MCA noted that both sides of the political divide were involved in acts of violence, intimidation, and disruptions that undermined confidence in the electoral system. He stressed that Kenya’s democracy is still young and fragile, urging political players to prioritize peace, respect for the rule of law, and maturity in all election-related activities.

Nding’o further challenged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to work diligently to restore public trust ahead of the 2027 General Election. He emphasized that the by-elections had exposed serious gaps in election management and security, calling on the commission to put in place stronger safeguards to guarantee a free, fair, credible, and transparent process in the future.

According to the MCA, the integrity of elections remains a cornerstone of national stability and cohesion. He said the IEBC must reinforce its systems, improve coordination with security agencies, and enhance voter education to minimize conflict and confusion during electoral exercises.

He urged leaders at all levels to champion equity and accountability to ensure no community is left behind.

The live program attracted significant public interest, with listeners calling in to express their frustrations over electoral misconduct and their hopes for reforms. The MCA reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for peaceful politics, good governance, and stronger democratic institutions.

Mwatu FM announced that it will continue hosting leaders across the county to foster open dialogue on governance, development, and public accountability.
