In a bid to improve healthcare access, Kitui County has launched a five-day medical outreach programme in Kitui East and Kitui West Sub-Counties. Led by CECM Ruth Koki, the initiative is delivering essential healthcare services directly to villages, easing the burden on families in hard-to-reach areas.
The programme offers a range of services, including outpatient consultations, antenatal and postnatal care, immunization, family planning, and health education. Mobile clinics and diagnostic equipment are being used to reduce travel distances and support early detection of health conditions.
Governor Julius Malombe’s manifesto prioritizes accessible, quality healthcare, and this outreach reflects that commitment. Patients requiring further assessment or specialized treatment are being referred to higher-level health facilities, ensuring continuity of care.
The county’s efforts aim to improve health outcomes, particularly for maternal and child health, and promote preventive services and early treatment. By taking healthcare closer to the people, Kitui County is reaffirming its promise to improve the health and wellbeing of every resident
