The National Liberal Party (NLP) has reached a major milestone after registering over one million members nationwide, signaling growing momentum as the country gradually gears up for the 2027 General Elections.
During a visit to the party’s offices, officials confirmed that the party’s registration records and organizational structures are already in place, positioning the party to field candidates across all elective positions. According to party officials, the NLP plans to present candidates for Member of County Assembly (MCA), Members of Parliament (MPs), Women Representatives, Senators, and Governors in various counties across the country.
“Our only challenge right now is that ORPP only recognizes registered voters as party members. So we are currently urging all our members to ensure that they register as voters so that they can be bona fide members of NLP” party organizing secretary Jemima Katheeku stated.
Party leader Dr. Augustus Kyalo Muli has also announced that his party will be presenting a Presidential candidate come 2027 and has been quiet on calls by his constituents to contest for the Kitui Central parliamentary seat in the 2027 elections. The seat is currently held by Makali Mulu, who is serving his third term and has declared his interest in vying for the Kitui gubernatorial seat in the same election cycle..
