Storm in NARC as Ngulli Summons Kitui MCAs Amid Plot to Overhaul Minority Leadership

A political storm is brewing inside the NARC party after Secretary General Fidellis Ngulli reportedly summoned the Kitui County Assembly Minority leadership in what insiders describe as a calculated move to shake up the House.

At the centre of the unfolding drama are Nguni Ward MCA Jeremiah Mutua and Kauwi Ward MCA Gabriel Mutunga Munyao, who currently serve as Minority Leader and Minority Whip respectively. The duo now finds itself staring at a possible ouster as whispers of a reorganization grow louder.

Reports indicate that former Minority Leader Alex Mutambu Nganga and Sylvester Kitheka Munyao are being lined up for a dramatic comeback โ€” a move critics say could reopen old wounds within the Assembly.

Supporters of the current leadership insist Mutua and Munyao have restored discipline and sharpened oversight in the House, describing them as firm, present and focused. But detractors argue that loyalty to party power brokers โ€” not performance โ€” may ultimately decide their fate.

Ironically, questions are swirling around Nganga himself, with allegations of absenteeism dogging his record. Sources claim he is facing possible suspension from the Budget and Appropriations Committee over missed sittings โ€” an issue that, if confirmed, could dent the credibility of any attempted comeback.

Those expected to honour the summons include Minority Leader Jeremiah Mutua, Minority Whip Gabriel Mutunga Munyao, Board Member Muthama Kieti and Deputy Minority Whip Kalamba Musau. Their appearance is likely to determine whether this is a routine consultation โ€” or a political ambush disguised as party discipline.

All eyes are now turning to Party Leader Charity Kaluki Ngilu. Is she orchestrating the shake-up, or is the Secretary General acting independently? The silence from the partyโ€™s top brass is only fueling speculation.

With tensions simmering and factions hardening, the Kitui County Assembly could be headed for another bruising internal battle โ€” one that may expose deeper cracks within NARC ahead of the 2027 political season.

For now, what was once an internal party matter has exploded into a full-blown political showdown. Kitui is watching.
