Kitui Central MP Dr. Makali Mulu has reaffirmed his commitment to youth empowerment and education, declaring that young people will continue to have a central role in his development agenda as he eyes the Kitui gubernatorial seat in 2027.
Speaking during recent engagements with residents and youth groups, Dr. Mulu said his leadership philosophy is anchored on education as the foundation of empowerment, a principle he noted was championed by the late President Mwai Kibaki.
The legislator highlighted his track record in Kitui Central, citing investments in school infrastructure, bursary support, and school feeding programmes that have improved access to education and enhanced learning outcomes for many students.
โEducation remains the greatest equaliser. Through proper implementation of development programmes, we have supported many young people to access quality education and build better futures,โ he said.
Dr. Mulu emphasized that his manifesto prioritizes youth empowerment, with plans to expand support for needy and high-performing students from early childhood education through tertiary institutions if elected governor.
He pledged to work closely with young people to drive economic and social transformation in Kitui County, noting that empowering youth through education and opportunities is key to sustainable development.
At the same time, the MP cautioned young people against being swayed by politicians issuing unrealistic promises or promoting divisive regional politics. He urged them to support leaders focused on tangible development and service delivery.
With his gubernatorial ambitions gaining momentum, Dr. Mulu maintained that his focus remains on delivering practical solutions and strengthening education and youth programmes across the county.
