CPA John Makau has urged leaders across the Ukambani region to rally behind Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s presidential ambition ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during a church service, Makau emphasized the need for unity among leaders, saying that while individuals are free to associate with political parties of their choice, the region should collectively work behind Kalonzo Musyoka for the sake of national leadership and regional influence.

Makau noted that Kalonzo Musyoka’s leadership style promotes inclusivity and democratic freedoms, arguing that such values are critical as the country prepares for the next electoral cycle. He called on elected leaders and opinion shapers to prioritize the greater good over partisan interests.

He further revealed that Kalonzo Musyoka is enjoying growing support among the youth, particularly Generation Z, whom he described as an emerging and influential voting bloc of over five million voters expected to play a decisive role in the 2027 elections.

According to Makau, the Gen Z demographic is increasingly drawn to issue-based politics, accountability, and integrity—values he said align with Kalonzo Musyoka’s long-standing political record.

Addressing the congregation, Makau expressed confidence that a Kalonzo Musyoka presidency would steer Kenya away from what he termed as poor leadership, and place the country on a path of unity, economic growth, and good governance. He urged Kenyans “to the last man” to support Kalonzo’s bid.

Turning to local politics, Makau also declared his intention to contest the Mwingi Central parliamentary seat in 2027. He said his bid would focus on “delivering the constituency from poor leadership” and bringing effective representation and development to the area.

Makau’s remarks come amid early realignments and mobilization efforts by political leaders as the race toward the 2027 General Election gradually takes shape across the country.

Makau also challenged leaders from Ukambani to rise above internal divisions and personal ambitions, warning that disunity would weaken the region’s bargaining power at the national level. He said a united Ukambani speaking with one voice would not only secure political relevance but also ensure that the region’s development priorities are addressed in the next government.

He praised Kalonzo Musyoka’s experience in government, citing his past roles in national leadership and diplomacy as key strengths that position him as a safe and steady choice for the presidency. According to Makau, Kenya needs mature leadership that can stabilize the economy, strengthen institutions, and restore public confidence in governance.

The church gathering attracted local leaders and residents, many of whom welcomed Makau’s message and echoed his call for unity and early mobilization ahead of 2027. The sentiments expressed underscored growing political activity in Mwingi and the wider Ukambani region as leaders begin shaping alliances and messaging for the upcoming elections.
