Kitui County Governor Dr. Julius Malombe, EGH, on Saturday led county and national leaders in Mwingi during the burial ceremony of the late Dorcas Mutindi Matiki, the mother of Wiper Democratic Movement Leader H.E. Kalonzo Musyoka’s Personal Assistant, Mr. James Mutemi Matiki.
The Governor was flanked by Kitui County Deputy Governor H.E. Wambua Kanani as he accompanied H.E. Kalonzo Musyoka to the solemn ceremony, which drew leaders from across the political divide in a show of solidarity with the bereaved family.
Also present was DAP-K Party Leader Hon. Eugene Wamalwa, alongside a host of Members of Parliament including Kitui Central MP Dr. Makali Mulu, Mwingi North MP Hon. Paul Nzengu, and Embakasi South MP Hon. Julius Mawathe.
Other leaders in attendance included Hon. Victor Munyaka, Hon. Kiema Kilonzo, Advocate Ndegwa Njiru, senior Kitui County officials, and Members of the County Assembly, reflecting the wide respect accorded to the Matiki family.
Speakers at the ceremony paid glowing tributes to the late Dorcas Mutindi Matiki, describing her as a humble, supportive, and strong pillar of her family whose values were evident in the life and service of her son.
Leaders used the occasion to emphasize unity, compassion, and shared humanity beyond politics, noting that moments of loss call for togetherness and mutual support.
Governor Malombe conveyed condolences on behalf of the County Government of Kitui, while H.E. Kalonzo Musyoka thanked leaders and residents for standing with the family during their time of grief.
The burial ceremony brought together residents, friends, and leaders, underscoring the strong social and political bonds within the Kitui community and beyond.
